Summer 2011

We really enjoyed our first day of summer! Since there was a storm the day before which brought in cooler weather, it was actually cooler than any day we had during spring this year. We went to the mall and played in the soft play area, did a little shopping, enjoyed a couple of stories in the book store, had cookies and then later dinner at Red Robin. Yum! We were not quite ready to go home so we made a stop at the park near our house for some outside play time. By the time we got home there was only one hour left before bedtime. Whew, it was a fun summer day. Happy Summer!!!

Atlanta Zoo

A few pics from our trip to the Atlanta Zoo with SIL. This is one of my favorite. Vaishali poking the goat in the eye and saying "eye". She has identified everything with eyes, ears, nose and mouth as being a baby.

The girls LOVED the pandas so much that daddy had to go in the gift shop and buy them their own baby panda which Anjali loves on all the time.

The bengal tiger. We couldn't get a very good pic of him, but I remember this not being a very big deal to my SIL and her kids because these creatures can be found in their neighborhood when there's not enough food for them in the jungle behind their home in India.

My favorite, the silverbacks. Look closely this one has her baby. I could watch them all day.

The girls all dressed up for Daddy's birthday. Look at the hair. I swear I fix it, but 5 minutes later we're back to this. I take them to get it cut by professionals, buy all the baby products and hair bows they reccomend, but still it's unruly. I think the hair flips and curls are adorable, but sometimes we go to the mall and I feel like everyone is looking at me and wondering if I ever brush these adorable twins hair. lol

Savannah Trip Summer 2011

Last weekend the boys and I took a trip alone to Savannah, GA. CJ is getting older and will be staying with his dad once school starts so that he can attend the same High School that both his father and I went to. This means I will likely only be seeing him during Christmas, Spring and Summer breaks. I'm just now coming to the realization that my little boy, whom I have tried to keep a little boy as long as I could, is growing up.
I have wanted to visit Savannah for some time now, and since it's now the closest beach to us we decided this is where we should go. We loved it, and will likely visit Savannah every summer as long as we live in Georgia. Savannah is full of character, rich with history, and brimming with southern charm.
We were only there for the weekend and arrived late on Friday, but we had a list of things we wanted to do. On our first night there we went to River Street. This is a good place to go to at night. We got dressed up like pirates and took pictures, enjoyed some seafood and a candy/fudge shop, took in some live music, and admired the many yachts which were lined up along the river.
On day 2 of our trip we visited the Bonaventure Cemetery, went to the beach, toured the Owens-Thomas house, and went to the movies. Before leaving on Sunday we went to an awesome antique shop in the downtown area which is actually a historic home filled with antiques in every room. On our way home we stopped off to buy some Georgia peaches of course and homemade blackberry jam, and talked about how we enjoyed our little Savannah trip together.

Day 2 in Savannah, GA

The night before we left for our trip we watched the movie, The Garden of Good and Evil. This movie was filmed in Savannah and includes many places in Savannah which you can still visit today. One of those places is the Bonaventure Cemetery. The boys and I decided this was one of the places which we would visit on our trip, and I'm glad we did. I don't normally visit cemeteries, but I found this one to be very peaceful and serene, not at all creepy. We walked around and took pictures of many of the beautiful statues within the cemetery, but don't come here if you're looking for the Bird Girl statue in the movie, and on the book cover. The "Bird Girl" had to be moved to a museum. Many of the statues we took pictures of have peoples names and such on them so I wont post them on here, but if you're ever in Savannah you should check it out.

The Owens-Thomas house was built in 1816. The house includes furniture from the period, and the original slave quarters that was built along with the house. This house was featured in the movie The Conspirator which came out a few years ago.

My Sister-in-law and her kids recently come to visit us from India, and this is the picture we took of all of us the day before they went back home. I love the excitment they had for their first visit to the United States. A week or so before they had to leave my husband was uploading all of the pictures they had taken while they were here, and I realized how things that we see every day are really no big deal to us can be so exciting and new to someone else. Seriously, my SIL took a picture of EVERYTHING. From our car to Wal-Mart. Yes, Wal-Mart. She loved Wal-Mart and there is no such thing in India. Can you imagine life with no Wal-Mart or Target?

Hangin' out at the movies with Jacob. I love these pictures we took when we went to see Hop right before Easter, and we had sooo much fun together. I'm afraid all too soon that I will be looking back and wishing he was this age again.
