Visit to Latta Plantation

One weekend earlier in the summer we visited the historic Latta Plantation and this made for some sweet pictures. A cozy little cabin, said to have been used for the servants on the plantation.
Blacksmith
A sweet lady, dressed in period clothing, knitting. Someday I'm gonna learn to do that myself when I have lots of free time,
The girls always enjoy seeing animals of any kind.

Doesn't this look like a peaceful place to spend an afternoon?

And just for fun, an adorable pic of Vaishali coming to show me the shoes she found in my closet.

Summer Post #2

Vaishali LOVES to color, write, and paint. Daily I get many requests from her saying "Mommy, I need to color". Not want but need to color, lol I just love that. Here she is one morning, still in her night shirt (brothers old football t-shirt), creating her work of art.
Very serious.
Anjali with teacup in hand, wanting a tea party I'm sure.
Playing in the water table with an idea I found on pinterest. Pirate ships made from frozen blocks of ice with a straw sticking up and a piece of colored tape as the flag. This was great on a really hot day. I also froze little toys standing up on the ships with glitter inside as pirate gold. The girls love anything to do with the idea of pirates. Once the "pirate ships" melted there was pretty gold glitter glimmering in the water.
And later playing with Bubby. He spends most of his time working and helping different relatives, so the girls are always excited when they get to play with him. Jacob of course spends his days playing hanging out with his friends, riding bikes, playing video games and such. He's getting ready to turn 13 and reminds me often that he no longer plays, but rather "hangs out" with his friends. Ugh, he's barreling towards those dreadful teenage years.
Thankfully, he does still enjoy playing with his little sisters.

Catch Up on Summer Days Post #1

On occasion when it was just too hot or we needed a change in our play area, I took the car out of the garage and set up a few different play stations in the garage, Along with the fan running of course.
Dinner with the warm glow of oil lamps.
And a very relaxing exciting bubble bath at the end of the day.
This is just a tad late, but I love this birthday pic of daddy and the girls. I have a lot of pictures I want to post that I need to catch up on and I plan on doing that every couple of days until I've gotten caught up on all of our summer pictures.

Every time Lish comes to my house she cleans the kitchen, yay!
We had fudge brownies and hot chocolate.
Opened little gifts for the kiddos.

Decorated a bit...

and earlier in the day we played for a bit outside.

Fun, Fun, Fun!

Mother's Day 2012

Our day out for Mother's Day at the botanical gardens was a wet one, but still a lot of fun. Thanks Miranda for taking pictures!
I love this picture of mom. A little Mary Poppins look with that umbrella.
Our tour guide was very informative, lol.

Pick Your Own Strawberry Farm

We had an exciting day at Patterson Farm today with the girls. This morning I had told the girls we were getting ready to go visit a farm, and as soon as Anjali finished lunch she got up from the table and said "let's go see the farm".
Strawberry picking was fun but the girls quickly got tired of carrying their 1 gallon baskets of strawberries and started eating them instead while daddy and me finished picking the strawberries.
After washing our hands Vaishali decided it was time for a quick drink, and then Anjali hurried over to the market to pick out a tractor.

Taking a relaxing ride with daddy around the farm. Anjali was so big sitting in there all by herself.
The girls favorite part of the farm of course is visiting the animals, and ducks are always well loved by my lovies.
Silly goats!
Riding the tractor trikes was a little disappointing for them when they realized they were too little to ride them on their own. I'm betting by the time fall rolls around and we go back for the pumpkin patch they'll be able to.
She's thinking Hooray for giant sandboxes!
Vaishali's so strong I wasn't at all surprised that she could do this.
2 gallons of freshly picked strawberries is gonna make a lot of strawberry pie, strawberry cobbler, strawberry milk shakes, smoothies and lots of other good stuff I haven't thought of yet. Patterson Farm with 2 year olds is fun, fun, fun!

Celebrating Holi 2012

We just brought out the colors (scented colored powder) and the girls are not sure what to do with it.....yet.
Daddy says "we throw it in the air, like this".
Alrighty then, let's get this party started.
It didn't take long for them to figure it out, lol. I'm sure who ever invented the way in which people celebrate this holiday in India must have had a toddler or two around. This must be done right before bath time, but that's okay we like messy fun around our house.
After sometime they moved on to painting each other's faces.
Next, we played with our new bubble machine that makes colored bubbles. Yay!
Fun, fun, fun and I'm so glad daddy has someone else to play holi with because it's not my favorite activity. I do, however, enjoy watching the girls play it while I get to stay clean and take pictures.
